Wyeth €1b campus will create 450 jobs

FOUR hundred and fifty positions will be filled over the next 12 months in the Wyeth BioPharma facility in Dublin.

The group’s new €1 billion campus at Grange Castle in Clondalkin is on schedule and looking to recruit the additional 450 staff.

When completed, it will be the largest single-site biopharmaceutical campus in the world and will involve the creation of 1,300 new jobs at full production in 2007, bringing total Wyeth employment to more than 3,000. Wyeth, one of the world’s largest research-driven pharmaceutical and health care products companies, is holding an open day in Jurys Hotel on Monday next December 30 to launch its recruitment drive for 2003.

The new campus will manufacture a range of healthcare products for the prevention or treatment of serious illnesses including rheumatoid arthritis, pneumonia in young children and spinal/facial injuries. Three hundred and fifty jobs were created in 2002 with over 90% of employees having third level qualifications.

More than 60 staff have joined the company from overseas and Wyeth is delighted with the diversity of opportunity and talent which these staff bring to its operations.

Human resource director Larry Kelly said that he is confident the quality of people will be maintained as they seek to recruit the 450 staff next year.

Recently, Tánaiste Mary Harney congratulated Wyeth on their tremendous progress on site.

“This campus is truly world-class in scale and quality and is a tremendous endorsement of Ireland as a location for future biopharmaceutical investment. The job creation content of this investment is outstanding with almost 400 full time staff on board already and an additional 450 people to be hired in 2003. And all this with manufacturing not scheduled to commence until the first half of 2005.”
