Smart Telecom opts for Eutelsat

BROADBAND provider Smart Telecom has selected Eutelsat, one of the world’s leading satellite operators, to fulfil the satellite requirements of the €6 million contract it was recently awarded to provide high-speed internet access to schools throughout Ireland.

The contract consists of delivering always-on internet access and equipment to over 1,000 primary and secondary schools using wireless, fixed-line and satellite technology.

Smart Telecom chief executive Oisín Fanning said: “Eutelsat is a first-class operator and we look forward to working with them on this assignment.”
