The Irish Farmers Association (IFA) has warned that the country’s co-op farmers cannot afford to take any milk price cuts next year.

Dairy Committee chairman Michael Murphy launching the IFA 2004 milk price campaign, said dairy farmers are demanding that co-ops come clean on their processing costs.

“They must undertake a root-and-branch elimination of their excessive costs and co-operate to take out unnecessary duplication,” he said.
