SHARES in Dublin had a steady day closing up slightly, gaining 0.15 points to 4735.29.

Financials were down in a mixed day overall. Allied Irish Bank and Irish Life and Permanent shed 6c and 20c closing down at 13.34 and 11.35 respectively. Bank of Ireland continued their recent positive trend finishing up 2c at 10.93. Similarly, Anglo gained 14c at 9.64, while First Active had a steady day.

In construction, section leader CRH ended 8c to the good at 16.60 and McInerney nudged ahead to 4.00. Despite an upgrade from a leading Irish broker, following yesterday's AGM, Heiton Group softened to 3.45.
