ITV may have to sell TV3 stake

ACCORDING to weekend reports, ITV may be forced to sell its 45% share in TV3 if it doesn’t buy CanWest’s shareholding, which was put up for sale last week.

It is understood ITV has an agreement with the Canadian media giant that gives it first refusal on its equal stake in the Irish television channel.

However, latest reports claim CanWest could trigger another clause making ITV sell out at the same price it does if the British broadcaster doesn’t show interest in snapping up its holding.
