Pay moderation essential, says Cowen

FINANCE Minister Brian Cowen warned that any new pay deal would have to be moderate if the economy is to sustain solid progress.

Several factors apart from wages, including prices and exchange rates could derail the economy going forward, he said.

“For this reason I see the next national agreement as crucial for the future of the country”, he said.
