Gold prospectors target border area

Shares in Conroy Diamonds and Gold jumped 11% yesterday after the mineral exploration company issued an upbeat interim report for the six months to November.

Losses for the period were 3% higher at €161,000, but chairman and founder Professor Richard Conroy said he was confident about the company’s future.

The company was open to pursuing its gold exploration activities in the Cavan/Monaghan area either alone or with a suitable joint venture partner, he added.
