BRITISH stocks including AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithkline rose as the drugmakers announced better-than-expected earnings.

Drugmakers boost FTSE

The benchmark FTSE 100 Index gained for a second day, adding 6.70, to 5270.30.

AstraZeneca, Europe’s third-largest drugmaker, jumped 5.9%, to 2,487 after it named a new chief executive, David Brennan.
