BRITISH stocks dropped, led by BP after a Gulf of Mexico rig was damaged by Hurricane Dennis.

Corus Group dropped after ABN Amro Holding NV said it expects steel prices to decline.

The FTSE 100 Index slipped for the first day in three, losing 25.2, or 0.5%, to 5217.2.

Some 50 stocks declined, 46 rose and four were unchanged.
