ICAI hails legislation roll-out

THE Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) has welcomed the start of sections of the Companies (Auditing and Accounting) Act 2003, which places the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority (IAASA) on a statutory footing.

ICAI president, John Greely said: “One issue we would like to see the new body address is the phenomenon of unregulated accountants. This is an issue that all sides in the Oireachtas debate on the Companies Bill agreed needed to be addressed,” he added.
