Musgraves buys frozen food firm

Grocery and distribution group Musgrave has bought C&R Foods, a Killarney-based specialist frozen food supplier. The company employs 31 people and has over 1,200 customers in the Munster region, generating annual sales of €10 million.

Frank Coghlan, Musgrave Foodservices’ divisional chief executive, said: “When we began trading in 2001, it was always our intention to develop our foodservice business by providing a multi-temperature offer nationwide.

“This acquisition does just that, and goes a long way to achieving our goal of becoming the number one foodservices supplier in Ireland.” The division is part of Musgrave’s wholesale business.
