Weather to hit wheat production

The international grains council trimmed its forecast for next year’s world wheat production, saying it expects unfavourable weather to hurt harvests in the us, the world’s top exporter.

Wheat output for the 2004-2005 agricultural year will rise to 599 million metric tons from 553 million tons this year, according to the London-based IGC’s monthly report. Next year’s forecast is down from 602 million tons predicted last month.
