Council set for €26m windfall
New road developments have driven up the value, and utility, of a 32-acre landbank by the Dunmore Road.
The land to be auctioned for commercial development is on the newly opened seven-kilometre outer ring road/Airport Road, and is likely to see a swell of mixed development, including retail uses.
The scale of development opportunity - and especially the chance to build a swathe of retail warehousing for which there is huge demand - means developers from all around the country are likely to compete for it.
Auctioneer Des Purcell of Sherry FitzGerald Purcell calls it the most significant commercial landbank ever offered in the south-east.
It is at Killure, on a hill above the Airport Road with high visibility, and given the amount of land, the scheme is likely to develop in phases and with a wide range of uses designed to foster and boost local employment.
It is just two miles from Waterford city centre, and a mile from the 470-bed Waterford Regional Hospital, with near neighbours Tesco, Homebase, Next, Lidl and the Ardkeen Shopping Centre.
