FDA to inspect Boston Scientific
Boston Scientific has recalled more than 99,000 stents, most of them from the Irish plant, one of the company's two stent-making units.
An FDA official said the agency did not find problems at the company's Minnesota plant, but planned to inspect the Galway plant.
The Taxus stent has been linked to at least one death and 18 serious injuries, while Boston Scientific's older Express 2 bare-metal stent has been linked with at least two deaths and 25 serious injuries. The devices are used to clear clogged heart arteries.
