Dupont announce 2,500 job cuts

About 450 union and non-union jobs are expected to be cut at the company’s Marshall Laboratory in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia, which develops automotive coatings and inks, the Inquirer reported.

The job cuts are part of a plan to lower costs through firings, streamlining product lines and making organizational improvements, the Inquirer said.

Many of about 600 union workers at the company’s Chamber Works in Deepwater, New Jersey, want to know if DuPont will help workers who lose their jobs yet are too young to retire with full pensions, the Inquirer said, citing Jim Rowe, president of Pace Local 2-943 at Chamber Works.
