365,000 use Knock Airport this year

THE number of people passing through Knock Airport rose by 56% in the first six months of the year.

Almost 250,000 people used it between January and June and the surge continued in the summer.

July and August proved to be record-breaking months with almost 115,000 passing through.

The airport had expected to serve half a million people this year but this is set to be exceeded.

Managing director Liam Scollan said 630,000 people will use it in 2006.
