Man Utd may face takeover bid

Major shareholders of Manchester United may take control of the club, the Observer newspaper reported, citing unidentified bankers.

Malcolm Glazer, owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers US football team, may try to increase his 19% stake of Manchester United to more than 30% without being forced to launch a takeover.

Mr Glazer may try to buy shares from investors such as Cubic Expression, the holding company for the 28.9% stake in Manchester United owned by Irish horse-racing millionaires John Magnier and JP McManus, the paper said.
