Factory pays average of 78p/lb for R3 bullocks
One factory paid an average of 218 cent/kg (78p/lb) for R3 bullocks, the lowest factory price recorded for the grade this year, while a bottom price of 209.5 cent/kg (75p/lb) average was paid by one processor for O3 heifers. The fall in prices was across the line, with the higher paying processors showing the largest slide in some categories, and a general indication that fewer plants paid more than the quoted rates and the greatest pressure on prices came at the top.
The variation in prices paid for the same grade of animals at different processing plants within the AIBP-Goodman Group continued with a reduction in the scale of difference to 6 cent/kg (2p/lb) for R3 bullocks and a marginally wider variation for O3 heifers.
