A MAJOR probe into mobile phone roaming charges is underway throughout Europe but yesterday, the EU decided to move against two companies operating in Britain because of alleged overcharging.

ComReg, the Irish telecommunications authority, has begun its investigation of the three companies operating in Ireland - Vodafone, O2 and Meteor.

However, it could take months to complete.
