BUSINESS groups and Opposition parties last night said banking price controls must not be abolished.

A study of the banking sector for the Competition Authority recommends that IFRSA be stripped of its powers to set the rates institutions can levy consumers in fees and charges.

The report said removing the control would be better for competition.
