Market slips despite financials gains

THE ISEQ index closed weaker yesterday, as gains in the financials could not counteract a drop in Elan. The Dublin market closed down 8.55 points at 7467.58.

Market slips despite financials gains

The financials performed well with AIB adding 7c to close at €17.92 while Bank of Ireland moved 5c ahead to €13.55. Anglo Irish raised €416.5m in a placing of 33.5 million new shares at a price of €12.40 with institutional investors. The stock closed up 11c at €12.81.

Construction giant CRH added 27c to end trading at €25.77, while Grafton also strengthened, up 14c to €9.50. Kingspan climbed 13c to €11.20.
