Telecom company issues fraud alert

IRISH companies could be losing up to €75 million every year through phone fraud, according to telecom company Energis.

The company, the third-largest fixed-line operator in Ireland, said fraudsters were exploiting weaknesses in corporate phone systems by hacking into them and making calls for free.

The company has launched a free fraud monitoring service for its customers that will study calling patterns and pick up on unauthorised phone usage.
