The sale of one of the Scottish whisky industry’s most famous brands to a French company was sealed in a £300 million deal.

Glenmorangie, one of Scotland’s last independent distillers, confirmed it would be bought by luxury goods group Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH).

The Edinburgh-based Macdonald family announced in August it was selling the 300-year-old company.
