GERMAN economists expect the euro to keep rising against the US dollar next year to as high as $1.60, the Tagesspiegel newspaper reported.

Martin Huefner, chief economist of HVB Group, said that the euro may appreciate to as much as $1.50 or $1.60 by the end of 2005 as the US.

Government may no longer favour a stronger dollar, the Berlin-based newspaper said in a summary of an article to be released in tomorrow’s edition.

Commerzbank AG analyst Michael Schubert said that he doesn’t see a turning point in the appreciation of the euro at any time soon, Tagesspiegel reported.
