British foods buys sugar importer
Billington had sales of £29.4 million in the year ended in April, according to London-based Associated British Foods. Billington imports raw cane from Mauritius, Malawi and Barbados, which is distributed from its site in Ipswich, England.
The purchase will complement British Sugar’s Silver Spoon retail brand, Associated British Foods said. The parent company’s other brands include Twinings tea, Ovaltine and Ryvita crackers.
