Dell wins €525m supply contract

Dell, the world’s biggest maker of personal computers, said yesterday it had won a €525m contract to supply computers and services for Royal Philips Electronics in 60 countries.

The five-year agreement includes desktop and notebook computers and workstations for 75,000, said Bob Kaufman, a spokesman for Dell. European computer services companies Getronics and Atos Origin will work with Dell.

Dell Chief Executive Kevin Rollins is increasing sales of services, which generate greater profits than desktop computers and consumer electronics. Revenue from services such as computer installation and repair jumped 32% in the quarter ended in October.
