Swisscom ‘should be able to acquire’

SWISSCOM’S ability to make foreign acquisitions without restrictions must be protected, its chief executive, Jens Alder, said in an interview published yesterday.

Swisscom has been at the centre of a political debate since its majority shareholder, the Swiss government, banned it from making acquisitions abroad, torpedoing a planned takeover of Eircom last month.
