AMR Corp’s American Airlines, the world’s largest carrier, agreed to delay the deliveries of 54 Boeing Co aircraft, postponing $2.7 billion in spending in the next six years.

The agreement allows American to delay the deliveries, set for 2006 through 2010, for as long as seven years, the airline said in a statement today.
