The financial sector had a mixed day. AIB edged ahead 4c to €14.40 while Bank of Ireland shed 13c to €11.62. Anglo-Irish firmed 2c and Irish Life and Permanent tumbled 22c to €13.03.

In construction, CRH was unchanged at €19.40, Kingspan rose 10c, while Grafton Group and Heiton fell 10c and 5c respectively.
