Mixed fortunes for financials

The ISEQ took a hit of 52.75 points to finish at 6010.37.

The financial sector had a mixed day. AIB edged ahead 4c to €14.40 while Bank of Ireland shed 13c to €11.62. Anglo-Irish firmed 2c and Irish Life and Permanent tumbled 22c to €13.03.

In construction, CRH was unchanged at €19.40, Kingspan rose 10c, while Grafton Group and Heiton fell 10c and 5c respectively.

Pharmaceutical giant Elan fell €1.34 to €21.45. Other movers on the day were Kerry Group, lower at €18.00, Glanbia, up 9c and Greencore lighter at €2.91.
