ISEQ advances again but banks slip

THE Dublin market edged higher for the second day in a row. The ISEQ added 1.02 points to 4772.60.

ISEQ advances again but banks slip

The banks buoyed the ISEQ in early trading before slipping. Giants AIB slipped 6c to €12.37, ahead of the company’s trading update on Wednesday morning. Rivals Bank of Ireland added 1c with 2.22 million shares changing hands.

Anglo Irish rose for the third straight day while First Active shed 1c, despite receiving approval from the financial regulators for its proposed sale to Royal Bank of Scotland. Budget carrier Ryanair finished 5c stronger at €6.38, while elsewhere, Waterford Wedgwood began trading in ex rights. The company finished the day at 24c.
