2005 vital for accountancy bodies

THE Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (ICAI) has described 2005 as a critical year for the international development of the accounting profession.

Institute president Terence O'Rourke said the introduction of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) were two of the most important developments since the codification of accounting standards.
