UrBus launches service

COMPETITION on bus routes to Dublin Airport will hot up from tomorrow with the launch of another private service.

UrBus launches service

UrBus, which is owned by well-known coach and tour operator Éirebus, will begin a service to the airport from across north Dublin.

The company said it will invest €1 million in new coaches, staff and infrastructure as part of the expansion. The service will start at Castleknock, run to Blanchardstown shopping centre, on to Swords and then to Dublin Airport.

The company said it expects to carry 30,000 passengers in the first six months of operations.

Paddy Kavanagh, a director of UrBus, said the company had studied the market for some time and found there was an opening for a service on the north side of the city.

UrBus said there will be 17 departures daily in both directions and fares will start €1.20, rising to €4.20. It said that each of the four buses can accommodate 39-seated passengers.
