Grant funding available for sustainable forestry
The emphasis is on projects which can be completed over one or two years and which do not fit readily into other funding categories, according to the Department of Agriculture.
Projects in the area of conservation and enhancement of bio-diversity in Irish forests will be considered by the Department. Agro-forestry, product development and marketing synergy between forestry and other areas of the economy will be considered. Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and Food, with special responsibility for forestry, John Browne said this is the second call for proposals to promote sustainable forestry. Last year €890,000 was given out in grant funding to 18 projects.
