Lack of trading weighs on market

THE Irish market continued its negative trend, shedding 5.95 points to close at 5593.19. Lack of trading and very little news flow weighed on the index.

With the upcoming announcement of MS drug Antegren still causing investor caution, Irish pharmaceutical Elan fell 3% to €17.10.

It was a relatively quiet day’s trading for the financials. AIB rose 7c to €13.80. Bank of Ireland was up 3c to €10.99, while IL&P plummeted 38c to €12.82.
