Ryanair fights new EU compo law

RYANAIR has joined with other European low-fares airlines to challenge new European Union legislation guaranteeing compensation to passengers who are denied boarding or are subject to flight delays or cancellations.

The European Low Fares Airline Association (ELFAA), which Ryanair helped set up in December, said the new legislation would fail in its attempts to protect consumers and would instead lead to higher fares, less competition and less choice for passengers.

The group includes British regional carrier FlyBe and German airline Hapag-Lloyd Express.
