Positive day on Irish market

IT was a generally positive day on the Irish market yesterday, mirroring the other European bourses although volumes were relatively modest.

The ISEQ ended the day up 38.67 points at 6130.34.

The main focus was on the financials. AIB advanced 20c to €16.15. Bank of Ireland also gained ground following positive news on its mortgage business. The stock gained 18c with over 2 million shares changing hands. Irish Life & Permanent was unchanged at €14.00 while Anglo-Irish bucked the trend, giving up 14c.
