THE figure of 120,000 people emigrating over the next two years is a stark reminder that we are back to the bad days of solving our unemployment crisis by exporting our people.

In its latest quarterly review, the Economic and Social Research Institute said the outflow of people will happen in the two years to the end of April 2011.

It also warned the country is facing a jobless recovery. And the only thing preventing unemployment from getting worse will be further emigration and a lot of people opting for retraining and further education.
