US president Barack Obama said this week he believes the economy may be seeing the very beginnings of the end of the recession.

Clearly a believer in his own philosophy — “yes we can” — he added modestly that the actions taken by his administration had helped stop the US economy from going into an irreversible free fall.

True or false there is no such good news in store for the Irish economy and there’s not a green shoot of recovery in sight.
