Blue singer faces drink-drive charge

A member of boy band Blue has been charged with drink-driving after being arrested in central London.

Lee Ryan, 20, from Blackheath, south east London, was detained by officers on Monday.

The vocal group - Duncan James, Anthony Costa, Simon Webbe and Ryan - released their first single, All Rise, in 2001.

The quartet have gone on to record a string of top 10 hits since their debut and have already notched up three number one singles.

The Scotland Yard spokesman said the singer was charged with driving with excess alcohol after being arrested at 4.10am in Tower Bridge Road.

It is believed he was driving a Porsche at the time.

Ryan is due to appear at Tower Bridge Magistrates Court on August 22.
