Erick makes landfall in western Mexico state as Category 3 storm

Hurricane Erick has made landfall in Mexico’s western state of Oaxaca, according to the National Hurricane Centre in Miami.

The hurricane’s centre was located about 20 miles (30km) east of Punta Maldonado early on Thursday.
