A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed to death in north London over the Easter weekend, police said.
An investigation was launched after Metropolitan Police officers were called to reports of a stabbing at an address in Ayley Croft, Enfield, on Saturday which they attended with the London Ambulance Service and Londonâs Air Ambulance.
A woman, whom police have named as 45-year-old Pamela Munro from Enfield, was found with stab wounds and died at the scene.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday and was remanded in custody, police said.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, of the Metâs Specialist Crime Command, said: âInvestigating officers have worked relentlessly across the weekend to investigate the circumstances around Pamelaâs death.
âWe continue to support her family, who are understandably devastated.
âThis morning, we arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with Pamelaâs death and he remains in custody.â Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, who oversees policing for Enfield, said the community would continue to see increased police presence in the coming days as the investigation continues.
She said: âOur thoughts are with Pamelaâs family and local residents who will have been significantly impacted following the news of her death.
âI am grateful to local officers and officers from the Specialist Crime Command who have worked tirelessly since Saturday to investigate the circumstances surrounding Pamelaâs death as well as support the local community.
âNeighbourhood officers will remain at Ayley Croft throughout the coming days to support the community and help investigators continue inquiries.
