Panel claims Donald Trump engaged in ‘criminal conspiracy’ over Capitol riot

The House committee investigating the US Capitol insurrection says that its evidence shows former president Donald Trump and his associates engaged in a “criminal conspiracy” to prevent Congress from certifying the results of the presidential election.

The panel also said its evidence shows Mr Trump and others spread false information about the poll’s outcome and pressured state officials to overturn it.
