British officers are helping German police identify Cologne sex assault suspects
A team of British officers is helping German police identify suspects after hundreds of sex assaults were reported in Cologne on New Year's Eve.
Scotland Yard's so-called 'super recognisers' specialise in using CCTV to catch criminal – they are officers who have a natural ability to recognise faces.
Almost 60 people have been arrested in connection with a spate of attacks in the city last December.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Neville is head of the unit: “They’re already linking suspects together, either they are associates or they are finding the same suspects in several pieces of footage.
“So the complement is the Germans have asked to keep them.”
