Emergency crews have declared a “significant incident” after a crash involving a smart car and a double-decker bus which mounted a kerb.

Emergency crews have declared a “significant incident” after a crash involving a smart car and a double-decker bus which mounted a kerb.

A number of people are being assessed by medics following the crash which happened at about 7.35am in London Road, Enfield, north London.

The car’s driver has been taken to hospital, London Ambulance Service said.

Images posted online showed the badly-mangled wreckage of the car in the road and the W8 bus on the pavement.

On its Twitter page, London Ambulance Service said it had cleared a “significant incident” and sent four ambulances, a response paramedic and its hazardous area response team

Police and London Fire Brigade are also at the scene and the road remains closed.
