Volkswagen has said investigations have found discrepancies in carbon dioxide emissions in far fewer than the 800,000 vehicles it initially suspected.

The car maker, which was already reeling from the fallout of cheating on US emissions tests for nitrogen oxide, said in early November that an internal investigation had revealed “unexplained inconsistencies” in the carbon dioxide emissions from 800,000 vehicles.
