Some small tourism operators, including B&B's were worried they might be held liable for poor services delivered by other travel businesses which they promoted.

Consumers will be entitled to receive clear information on the deal, and who is ultimately responsible if anything goes wrong.

Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune says it should allay fears for small tourism businesses who promote other local providers.

"There was also some concern from small enterprises, small tourist providers, that maybe they will be liable, maybe if you're a small B&B or a small hotel and you offered fishing locally or golf package or bicycle hire and they would be faulty and you would be liable.

"That has been addressed, that was a concern about the package but it's been addressed and for small providers it's been acknowledged that they're just sharing the information locally rather than offering the package."
