Man charged with murder of 13-month-old in England

A man has been charged with the murder of a 13-month-old boy.

Aiden Cairns died in hospital after police were called to an address in Church Street, Preston, on March 22 last year.

A post-mortem examination showed the cause of death was smothering.

A spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary said: “Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, a man has today been charged with murder following the death of 13-month-old Aiden Cairns.

“Liam Cairns, 26, of no fixed address, is due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court this afternoon (today).”
