'Serial' podcast subject Adnan Syed granted appeal hearing

The man who was the subject of last year's global podcast sensation Serial has been granted permission to appeal his conviction for murder.

Adnan Syed, who was convicted of the murder of his former girlfriend Hae Min Lee in 1999, shot to worldwide fame when his case and the facts surrounding it became the focus of Serial, a long-form investigative podcast from WBEZ Chicago in the US.
