Doctor cleared in UK's first FGM trial

A public health doctor has said he is “extremely relieved” after being cleared of female genital mutilation (FGM) in a landmark UK case branded a “show trial” by critics.

Dhanuson Dharmasena, 32, smiled while his family sobbed and hugged each other as he was cleared by a jury in less than 30 minutes.
