Indian city bans Uber taxis after rape claim

International taxi-service Uber has been banned in the Indian capital New Delhi after a businesswoman alleged she was raped by one of its drivers.
The woman, who works for a finance company, alleged she was raped on Friday night on her way home from a dinner engagement in the Indian capital.
Transportation official Satish Mathur said Uber taxi services will no longer be able to operate in New Dehli.
The CEO of the San Francisco-based company, Travis Kalanick, said it would do “everything to bring the perpetrator to justice and to support the victim and her family in her recovery”.
Shif Kumar Yadavce, 32, is due to appear in a New Delhi court charged with rape.
He was arrested last night in his home town south of New Delhi.
